The latest poll of Westminster voting intentions gave Rishi Sunak a major boost this afternoon, suggesting a significant shift from Labour to the Conservatives in just one week.
According to Deltapoll’s survey, the gap between the two major parties has narrowed by 13 points since this time last week.
Labour’s poll lead has shrunk from 50% to 45%, while the Conservatives have increased by 8 points from 27% to 35%.
Despite holding their first in-person conference in York over the weekend, the Lib Dems have dropped two points to 7 percent.
Deltapoll says that according to their historical voting tracker, “the speed at which the gap between the two main parties is widening appears to be slowing down.”
Over the last week, Keir Starmer’s personal ratings have also taken a hit, falling five points to +7.
Rishi Sunak’s personal popularity has risen by two points over the same period, from -11 to -9.
The poll, which gives Labour a 10-point lead, is currently an outlier, with multiple other polls over the last week giving Labour leads ranging from 16 to 25 points.
The good news comes ahead of what could be Rishi Sunak’s most difficult week in office this year, as he tries to keep the Tory party together despite divisions over Boris Johnson and Northern Ireland.
